Vespa scooters to come back soon in India

You must have heard and seen LML Vespa in India some years back and still some old horses are running on roads. But we would like to inform you that LML Vespa is not available now as the alliance between Piaggio, a Italy based auto manufacturer, and LML is not existing:-)


Now the company, Piaggio, has decided to re-launch its once popular scooter in India- Vespa. According to news reports Director of Piaggio & C.S.p.A. Mr Roberto Colaninno has accepted the plans to launch the Vespa Scooter in India in a board meeting in its headquarters. The auto company is planning to bring the scooter in India by the end of year 2012. Initially, Piaggio will roll out its more popular model Vespa XL 125, the scooter is being sold in different parts of the world through authorised dealers.

The Vespa Scooter will be produced at its own plant on which Piaggio announced to invest around 30 million euro for three year viz. 2010, 2011 and 2012.


The facility will be having an installed capacity of producing 1.5 lakh units in a year. The Vespa is coming to India for the third time and is expected to be pitted against Mahindra Duro and Rodeo, Suzuki Access, Honda Activa etc.
